Merlyn

Born: March 1992

I bought Merlyn for Heather before we were married. She was living in a railway cottage in Haxby (Nr. York) at the time with two other people (all renting) so I wanted to get her some company.

Heather used to get books to read from the local library. Merlyn would come out of his cage and sit on the edge of the book while she read, taking occasional chunks out of the pages. I think the librarians must have wondered why Heather was perforating the pages.

When Heather went back to Canada between 1992 and 1994 Merlyn lived with David Sergeant in Strensall. Here he learned how to whistle completely out of tune (my family is tone deaf) and cluck like a a chicken.

Merlyn doesn't come out much any more thanks to the skillful art of looking like a fat, slow, waster, but secretly being able to pounce with agility to rival Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, as perfected by Cobweb.
